Every network interface has a MAC address. Router client lists show it. The first half of a MAC often maps to a manufacturer (OUI), which helps you recognize unknown devices.
How to use it
- Open the connected devices list: see devices on your router.
- Copy the MAC (format like AA:BB:CC:DD:EE:FF).
- Compare with the MAC shown in the phone or TV network details.
- Optional: look up the OUI vendor as a hint, not proof.
Limits
- Randomized MACs on modern phones can confuse you
- Vendor lookup will not name the person
- Blocking still needs the current MAC: see the devices guide
