Router admin page will not load
Browser shows an error, spins forever, or opens a search page instead of the login screen.
- Confirm you are on the same Wi‑Fi or Ethernet network (not guest Wi‑Fi or mobile data).
- Type the IP in the address bar (e.g. http://192.168.1.1) — not the Google search box.
- Disable VPN/proxy and try another browser or private/incognito mode.
- Find the real gateway with our local IP tool or your OS network settings, then open that IP.

Wrong username or password
The login form rejects admin/admin or the password you remember.
- Check the sticker on the router for admin credentials (ISP gateways often override factory defaults).
- Try common pairs only if the sticker is missing: admin/admin, admin/(blank), admin/password.
- If you changed the password and forgot it, a factory reset is usually required.
- Open your exact model page on Routerpedia for published defaults.

Not sure which gateway IP to use
192.168.1.1, 192.168.0.1, and 10.0.0.1 are all common — picking the wrong one fails.
- Compare the three main gateways and your brand/ISP on our comparison guide.
- TP-Link and D-Link often use 192.168.0.1; many others use 192.168.1.1; Xfinity/Comcast often use 10.0.0.1.
- Confirm with the sticker or your device’s listed router/gateway address.

Wi‑Fi connected but no internet
Devices join the network but websites will not load.
- Check whether other devices work; reboot modem and router (modem first, wait, then router).
- Log into the admin panel and confirm WAN/internet status is connected.
- Verify DNS is not broken; try a temporary public DNS only after checking ISP status.
- If you recently enabled bridge mode or double-NAT, review your modem + router chain.
