Router login means opening your gateway IP in a browser and signing in with the admin password. Searches like “my router login” or “router admin password” all point to this same process.
Logging into your router is how you change the Wi-Fi password, update firmware, set parental controls, or fix connection problems. You do not need special software, just a browser and the correct admin IP address.
What you need before you start
- A phone, tablet, or computer connected to the router (Wi-Fi or Ethernet)
- A web browser such as Chrome, Safari, Edge, or Firefox
- The router admin IP (often printed on a sticker)
- The admin username and password (sticker, ISP paperwork, or factory defaults)
Step 1: Find the IP to log into your router
The three most common gateway addresses are:
- 192.168.1.1 (very common on Netgear, Asus, Linksys, and many others)
- 192.168.0.1 (common on TP-Link and D-Link)
- 10.0.0.1 (common on Xfinity and Comcast gateways)
Other gateways include 192.168.1.254, 192.168.8.1, 192.168.2.1, and 192.168.100.1. Not sure which one you have? Check the label, or look at Default Gateway on your device. Browse all router IP pages or brands.

Step 2: Open the IP in the address bar
Type http://192.168.1.1 (or your gateway) into the browser address bar, not the search box. Press Enter. You should see a login page or setup wizard.
If the page fails, use 192.168.1.1 not working for fixes that also apply to other gateway IPs.
Step 3: Enter the router admin password
Try the credentials on the sticker first. Common factory pairs include admin / admin, admin / blank password, or an ISP-printed password. After login, change the admin password so neighbors or guests cannot change your settings.
Brand-specific tips
- TP-Link router login: often 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1
- Netgear router login: often 192.168.1.1 or routerlogin.net on the LAN
- Xfinity / Comcast: usually 10.0.0.1
- ZTE router login: many ZTE home gateways and fiber ONTs print the admin IP and password on the label. Common addresses include 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.100.1. Use the sticker IP in the address bar, then the printed admin password.
What to do right after you log in
- Change the default admin password
- Update the Wi-Fi name (SSID) and Wi-Fi password
- Check for firmware updates
- Note your settings before enabling guest Wi-Fi or parental controls
