WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) was meant to make joining easy with a button or PIN. The PIN method has known weaknesses on many older routers. If you do not need WPS, disable it.
How to disable WPS
- Log into the router (login steps).
- Open Wireless → WPS, or Advanced → Wi-Fi → WPS.
- Disable WPS or uncheck Enable.
- Save and apply.
Safer ways to add devices
- Type the Wi-Fi password manually
- Share a Wi-Fi QR code
- Use a guest network for visitors: guest Wi-Fi
FAQ
Will disabling WPS break my printers?
Most printers can join with the normal password. Use WPS only temporarily if a device requires it, then turn WPS off again.
