How to Reset a Comcast Router (Factory Reset)

Use a factory reset on your Comcast router when you forgot the admin password or need a clean configuration. This erases custom Wi-Fi settings.

Comcast-specific steps

Comcast gateways are the same family as many Xfinity units. Use the reset button for about 10 to 15 seconds, then open 10.0.0.1 with the sticker password. See also Xfinity reset guide and Comcast.

General reset checklist

1. Keep power connected.
2. Hold Reset 10 to 15 seconds (follow your model if the manual differs).
3. Wait for a full reboot.
4. Join default Wi-Fi from the sticker if needed.
5. Change admin and Wi-Fi passwords after login.
