Use a factory reset on your Netgear router when you forgot the admin password or need a clean configuration. This erases custom Wi-Fi settings.
Netgear-specific steps
Many Netgear and Nighthawk models use a reset pinhole on the back. Hold 10 to 15 seconds with power on. After reboot, try 192.168.1.1 or routerlogin.net on the LAN. Defaults are often admin / password or the sticker values. Brand hub: Netgear.
General reset checklist
- Keep power connected.
- Hold Reset 10 to 15 seconds (follow your model if the manual differs).
- Wait for a full reboot.
- Join default Wi-Fi from the sticker if needed.
- Change admin and Wi-Fi passwords after login.
