How to Find Your Wi-Fi Password (Any Device)

Find or reset your Wi-Fi password on iPhone, Android, Windows, Mac, or from the router admin page. Includes Xfinity and forgot-password tips.

Need your Wi-Fi password again? You can usually read it from a phone or computer that is already connected, or from the router admin page. This hub covers the common paths and links to step-by-step guides.

Fast options

Find the password on the router

  1. Connect to the network (or use Ethernet).
  2. Open the gateway IP in your browser. Common addresses are 192.168.1.1, 192.168.0.1, and 10.0.0.1 for many Xfinity gateways.
  3. Sign in with the admin password (often on the sticker).
  4. Open Wireless, Wi-Fi, or WLAN settings and view or change the network password (also called the passphrase or key).

Forgot Wi-Fi password?

If no device still knows the password, log into the router and set a new one. If you also forgot the admin password, you may need a factory reset. See How to factory reset a router.

Xfinity or Comcast Wi-Fi password

Xfinity gateways often use 10.0.0.1. You can also change the Wi-Fi name and password in the Xfinity app. Brand page: Xfinity / Comcast. Reset guide: How to reset an Xfinity router.
